The D-Day Darlings release debut album ‘I’ll Remember You’ on Sony Records
A day I’ll never forget, I’m thrilled to tell you, ‘I’ll Remember You’, The D-Day Darlings’ debut album released by Sony, is now on sale!! (Release date 09/11/2018)
This little dream and this little desire to sing – to sing songs that people love to hear, that began with three girls singing songs to the old folks, has now turned into a dream come true. Ten years ago, Katie Ashby and the D-Day Darlings began singing ‘We’ll Meet Again’ and ‘Pack Up Your Troubles’ and the old folks all joined in.
After a tip off from a friend, I went to audition and joined the girls in 2015. We have performed at everything from veterans’ birthday parties, veterans’ parades, for the Chelsea Pensioners and in barracks the length and breadth of the UK, right through to The Imperial War Museum, The Royal British Legion’s ‘Festival of Remembrance’ and at The ‘RAF100 Royal Gala Performance’ at Theatre Royal, Drury Lane. Katie joined forces with The Royal British Legion and ‘The Darlings’ became official fundraisers for them, raising thousands of pounds each year. The incredible Dame Vera Lynn gave her endorsement of the group’s work and reaching the finals of this year’s ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ was the icing on the cake.
Well, just like the old folks did, now YOU can join in… on a whole new level. What a thrill to watch our album move up the album charts today! It’s finally here! ‘I’ll Remember You’ released by Sony is now on sale; online and in all the supermarkets!!
Hand on heart, I am so proud of this album. It has heart-warming fresh interpretations of so many incredible classics and it was a joy and a privilege to record. So don’t hold back! Find someone you know who’ll know all the words because they’ve sung them all their lives or introduce a little one to these incredible songs so they can sing them too!
Katie Ashby is a lady with a vision and we are all passionate about what ‘The Darlings’ do. I’m very proud to be part of the group she created and to play my small part to help remember all those who sacrificed so much to give us the opportunities we have today. I dearly wish my own grandparents were here to see this day.
This is a day I’ll never forget.
Never forget. xxx
